What is "Subtle Aromatherapy" and "Plant Energies"

In using the term “Subtle Aromatherapy”, we have in mind primarily the use of Essential Oils to affect the Subtle Body, which is the spiritual Body, the Psyche and the Soul. In doing so, the user draws on the subtle energetic or vibrational qualities of essential oils, rather than their physical properties. This expression can be used to denote the use of Essential oils to heal the physical body by influencing the subtle or energetic body of the recipient, in other words it is a form of vibrational healing. The energies in essential oils are on a very high frequency vibrating at speeds up to the speed of light. They mingle with our Aura and Chakra energies and energy meridians in our body and balance and heal us on a Subtle/Spiritual Level, plus the emotional and mental levels. They balance these levels which lessen the incidence of ill health. The healing takes place almost instantaneously but results take longer to show themselves.

Subtle Aromatherapy also embraces the use of essential oils to aid in meditation, affirmations, visualisation and all transformative inner work.

Some applications of essential oils that can be in our opinion properly described as “Subtle Aromatherapy “ are:-

Use in Vaporisers as a Meditation Aid, Ritual Bathing, Auric Massage, Chakra Balancing, Absent Healing, Planetary Healing, Meditation, Ritual and Religious Ceremony, and the use of Essential oils to help Personal Growth of the Personality and on the Spiritual Level.

We are sure that you will find many more possibilities - there are no “right or wrong” ways of working with this - however, you must act with Honesty and Sensitivity and provided you do this, which ever way you work will be right.

The therapeutic use of Essential Oils has been documented since written records began, but in Subtle Aromatherapy we have less to go on. The study of the mind in fraught with danger and quite difficult to document - so the study of the Subtle Body, the Human Spirit or if you prefer the “Higher Self” is even more so - if you wish to learn more about the “Subtle” or Spiritual Aspects of Essential Oils and plants you will find little documented in existing Aromatherapy Literature.

You will find some literature if you explore various Religious Holy Books, Mystical Writings, Myth, Legend, Folklore, Fairy Tales, Fables and Old Wives Tales for references to Sacred Plants, Magical Potions, Elixirs etc, You also have to sift through a lot of nonsense and misinterpretations of Charlatans that sometimes get mixed into this as well as discarding hazardous oils which very often are in recipes in these readings. A lot of people tend to disregard the knowledge of earlier times and civilisations as ‘Primitive” but we must remember that this knowledge can be extremely enriching, enlightening and informative as they were often closer to the Earth and its Plants in both their everyday and spiritual lives than we are in our so called “Modern Day world”.

They say experience and a hands on approach is the best teacher of all and this is quite true of Essential Oils. Using and experiencing Essential Oils as an aid to one’s own personal and spiritual growth to bring about a “No hands on” healing is the surest way to learn. Many people are drawn to look further at “Subtle Aromatherapy” they are drawn to stretch their Vista’s of Truth - people from all walks of life - Doctors, scientists, psychiatrists, homemakers, business executives, movie stars, politicians, etc because they have come to realise they want to connect with their own higher power and understand that they want to regain their internal power and work within themselves.

Reports have found they have been using Essential Oils at home and in the office and have had past live recalls, out of body states, seen vivid colours, vivid visual impressions all leaving them in a blissful state. Many others still feel drawn to the “Subtle Side” because they are healers, crystal workers, meditators, clairvoyants and such like, but who ever they are they all have one thing in common, they believe in the energies of the plants……

I would like you to think for a while of how we have used plants and flowers in our life, both in the past and present. We have used them for food, personal adornment, made shelters out of them and many other uses come to mind

Due to this fact it is not surprising to find that plants are central to both the medicinal and spiritual practices of mankind as far back as we can record and before that. In traditional medicine practices there is no separation between medicinal and religious practices. A Shaman is both Priest and Doctor. The American Indian concept of “Medicine” is an example.

Medicine to the Native American is not limited to the cure of physical ills, but embraces the spiritual life as well as serving to connect the user to the Earth and to all other living creatures.

In modern society medicine and religion have become separated. The ability of plants to heal physical dis-ease is acknowledged and well researched and documented, in most instances we know exactly which molecules within, a plant heal us leading to “Carbon Copies” of these plant molecules being synthetically made lacking the life-force or healing energy of the real plant.

In subtle Aromatherapy we draw on less tangible properties of plants to help in healing and transformation. In doing so we come closer to the Shaman’s Sacred Smoke, or the priest using incense than to the Doctor, Herbalist, or Traditional Aromatherapist.

When plants, or extracts from them, are used in vibrational healing, it is the vibration or subtle energy of the plant which is the healing factor and this is harder to explain or examine than the physical properties of medicinal plants. Each plant has its own particular vibration, something to offer us for our wholeness.

The healing and mystical practices of cultures who have preserved Shamanistic Traditions such as the Native Americans, Maoris and the Aborigines are wonderful to study if you are looking further into the subtle healing energies of the plants, for example the American Indians Smudging Sticks are nothing more than “Subtle Aromatherapy”.

References to flowers and plants and the beliefs associated with them can be found everywhere and anything you can learn about a plant will enrich your understanding of it and how it can heal.

Culpeper and other Herbalists assigned a ruling planet to each plant and those planets are named after Gods - Mars, Venus, Mercury and so on - studying the personality and other attributes of these Gods will tell you something about the plants under their rule.

The very best way for you to learn about plant energies, though is to study the plants themselves. Try to spend time near plants and be sensitive to them. Flower Remedies pioneered by Dr. Bach were made by intuitively tuning into the plants. Australia’s own Flower Essences are made this way, plus information is directly channelled to Ian White who makes these flower essences.

Look at the shape, texture, colour, habitat and growth, preferred climate and altitude etc of plants and trees and see how they vibrate. A plant that hugs the ground will have a very different energy from one that fights its way skyward.

Look at the difference between Rosemary and Lavender. The spiky Rosemary bush yields an oil that is loud, energising and lively, whilst the gently rounded cushioned leaves of the Lavender Bush brings forth a calming and wonderfully balancing oil.

Many oils used in meditation come from trees. Think of a tree for a moment - its roots go deep into the earth and stabilises it, earthing it whilst its branches reach for the Universe and God. Perfect balance - nothing could be better for meditation.

All plants have Aura’s, the vibrations of these Aura’s are extremely refined and indicates clearly the particular area of healing to which the plant is best fitted.

Trees have large aura’s and in forests and heavily wooded area’s these over-lap. This is why a walk in these areas are very healing to us.

Every plant, also has its own Deva or Spirit Guide (some call them fairies), these are the Guardian Angels of the plants. These play an important role in healing. They act as an intermediary between plants and humans. Think of them as friends and ask for their help, whenever, you need it and always thank the Deva as well as the plant afterwards.

There are many ways to use Essential oils on a "Subtle" or "Spiritual Level" so look for my other articles, however, When using vaporisers (the Most common meathod) to aid meditation use only 3 DROPS near where you are sitting or 1 DROP on a hanky and inhale!

I send you Love and Light.
